Specification: MIL-G-45204 Gold Plating, Electrodeposited
At ProPlate®, we offer two kinds of gold electroplating services. Soft gold offers the highest purity. Type III offers 99.9 % gold minimum purity. Soft gold plating is commonly used for semiconductor components, nuclear engineering, thermocompression bonding, and high-temperature applications. The appearance is a bright yellow, with a shiny or matte finish depending on the thickness. We have the capacity to plate parts as large as 24″x18″ in our soft gold bath.
We also offer hard gold. Hard gold generally has a lower purity than soft gold but is overall a good choice for all cosmetic applications and offers almost the same qualities as soft gold. Type I offers 99.7 % gold minimum purity. Type II offers 99.0 % gold minimum purity. Type 1 and Type II gold deposits are harder and are alloyed with either cobalt or nickel as deposited. These alloys have a much higher hardness and are more appropriate for contacts and connectors. We have the capacity to plate parts as large as 24″x23″ in our hard gold bath. At ProPlate®, we also have small, high concentration soft gold and hard gold baths. These two baths are primarily used for our very small intricate jobs. Because our small gold baths have a lower volume of liquid, we can easily adjust the gold concentration and power to achieve high thicknesses in a short amount of time. Our small gold baths have an approximate capacity of 12″x12″. Proplate does a large volume of Gold work, ensuring that we have more experience and success when it comes to Gold finishes.
