Four Decades of Precision Plating

ProPlate was founded in 1984 by Jim Jenkins and Lyle Van Blaricom in Anoka, Minnesota, originally serving the aerospace and electronics industries. In 1997, Craig Ingalls purchased the company and led an expansion into the defense market, beginning a period of steady capability growth and quality system development.

The company earned ISO 9001 certification in 2004, followed by AS9100 certification in 2007, establishing the quality foundation that would later support entry into more demanding regulated industries. In 2012, ProPlate formally expanded into the medical device market, a decision that has shaped the direction of the company ever since.

The years that followed brought a series of proprietary technologies and certifications that defined ProPlate’s specialization. Vizi-Band® radiopaque marker technology launched in 2014. The Tork-Lok® patent was obtained in 2016, the same year Meta-Poly® was introduced. In 2017, ProPlate earned ISO 13485 certification for medical device manufacturing and began developing a proprietary plating process for neodymium iron boron magnets, which was fully production-ready by 2019. The Meta-Poly® patent was granted in 2023.

Today, ProPlate operates from two ISO 13485:2016 certified facilities in Anoka, Minnesota, including the new 875 Lund Blvd location purchased in 2023 and opened in 2024. That same year, the company partnered with Chamfr to launch its first prototype product on the platform. In 2026, Ross Peterson took over as CEO. Craig Ingalls remains the company’s owner and serves as an executive advisor. ProPlate continues to focus on what it has built its reputation on for more than four decades: precision plating for components where quality is not optional.
